This illustration's purpose is nothing more than to show how despite the clear difference between classic literature and modern and pop culture, they are still connected. My thought process here was to show harmony in contrast. So, first I emphasized the two time periods, which is reflected in the abrupt change of background separating them into two sides and difference in media delivery (print vs. electronic). However, the literature side overflowing to the pop culture side and still looking vibrant implies that it is alive and thriving through the retellings we have today.
